Human Rights Watch have written an open letter to the United Nations Security Council over concern for the 1.2 million people left homeless by the earthquake that devastated the country in January.


Human rights in Iran show no signs of improvement


Last week, the Iranian government rejected major recommendations of the UN Council of Human Rights, including amongst others the recommendation to allow UN rapporteurs into the country, end the execution of juvenile offenders, and investigate torture allegations, including rape. The human rights situation in Iran remains dismal, with many human rights activists, journalists and students still in jail.
